In Memory of Jon Baker
Jon Baker passed away on November 12th, 2021 after a long and hard-fought battle with Glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. He left behind a legacy of dedication, compassion, and a desire to mentor others.
Jon was an extremely hard working and philanthropic man. He had a passion for skiing, racing cars, coaching volleyball, and spending time at his lake house with family and friends. Above all though, he was most passionate about fundraising for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation after his two eldest sons were diagnosed with CF in 2002. Jon was instrumental in organizing two of the largest CF fundraisers in the country, Shamrockin’ for a Cure and Smokies GT, which together have raised more than $6 million dollars for CF.
Jon graduated from Eckerd College in 1991 and immediately began working in the financial services field. He then founded Jon Baker Financial Group in 2000 after seeing the need for advisors providing holistic financial planning in the industry. He later went on to earn a Masters and his CFP® certification. JBFG partnered with Carson Group in 2020 in an effort to join a group of like-minded advisors and provide a better client experience.
Jon is survived by his wife, Pam, and four children, Gavin, Jake, Sabrina, and Duncan. He will be missed by his dozens of past and current employees, hundreds of clients he served over his career, and the countless number of people he impacted in the community.
