As summer is in full swing, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on an eventful and meaningful past few months here at Carson Wealth Pella. Our team continues to stay engaged with our community, grow personally and professionally, and celebrate milestones — both big and small.
Exciting News for Associate Wealth Advisor, Zach Vande Weerd & Hannah
We’re thrilled to share that Zach and his wife Hannah are expecting their first child — a baby boy due October 28th! This joyful news has the whole team buzzing with excitement, and we can’t wait to welcome the newest (and likely most adorable) member of the Carson family later this fall.
Education & Empowerment Through LTC Planning Events
This spring, we had the pleasure of hosting two client events in Pella and Rock Valley, featuring guest speaker Alecia Barnette, Senior Vice President of Care Planning Solutions at Financial Independence Group, a long-term care planning expert. Held in partnership with Premier Bank, these evenings brought great food, conversation, and valuable education around the importance of preparing for the unexpected when it comes to long-term care.
Community Involvement & Giving Back
Serving and celebrating our community remains central to who we are:
- Associate Wealth Advisor, Zach Vande Weerd and Managing Partner, Wealth Advisor, Sam Vande Weerd had the chance to support Child Serve by attending the always-fun Bubble Ball, with this year’s whimsical theme: Wild Wonders – Adventure into the Animal Kingdom.
- They also participated in a charity golf outing at Beaver Creek in Grimes, raising funds for Huntington’s Disease research and awareness.
- Sam remained active in his support of the Pella Opera House, volunteering at Opera House Outdoors and sponsoring a table at their annual gala.
- Our team enjoyed a break during Pella’s beloved Tulip Time Festival, embracing our Dutch heritage, spending time with family, and of course, indulging in the delicious food.
- Sam and Zach traveled to Carson’s home office in Omaha for the annual Partner Summit, gaining insights and sharing best practices with other advisors from around the country.
- And beyond the events and outings, our team found meaningful ways to serve — volunteering at churches, supporting the local food shelf, and contributing donations to local causes close to our hearts.
Welcoming Our Summer Intern
We’re happy to welcome Nolan Whalley as our summer intern! Nolan has been a great addition to the team, bringing fresh perspective, energy, and curiosity to our office. We’re excited to have him on board as he gains hands-on experience in the world of financial planning.

Outside the office, Amy and her family have been busy making memories this spring and summer:
- In April, they celebrated the baptism of their baby girl, along with a belated 1st birthday party.
- May marked the end of the school year for their kids — including a big “graduation” from third grade as their son prepares to enter a new school building in the fall.
- With travel basketball and baseball season in full swing, much of their free time has been spent at the gym and on the baseball diamond. The littlest ones have even mastered the art of napping courtside on the weekends!

Tricia’s family has also had a busy and exciting season:
- They celebrated her son’s 8th-grade graduation in May, and he’s eagerly looking forward to starting high school in the fall.
- Spring weekends were filled with soccer games, cheering on both her son and daughter from the sidelines.
- Professionally, Tricia attended Carson’s Represent conference in May, where she connected with other Carson Wealth offices and gained valuable insights on how to continue elevating client service.
