Second-Quarter 2026 Recap

As we move through the middle of 2026, our team has stayed just as busy—both in the office and with our families. From summer travel and community outings to important updates on tax planning and client resources, here’s a look at what we’ve been up to in the second quarter.

Community, Travel, & Events

We kicked off the quarter with plenty of family time and community connection.

Carson Wealth was a proud sponsor of the ChildServe Bubble Ball this year, supporting an organization that does incredible work for children with special healthcare needs in our community.

Tulip Time is always a favorite time of year in Pella, and this year was extra special—Sam had all four of his grandkids in town, dressed up in costume for the occasion. Spending time with family, enjoying Dutch treats, and participating in some of the rich Dutch traditions created special memories to be shared for years to come.

It was also a meaningful quarter for the Vande Weerd family for another reason—SJ was baptized, a special milestone worth celebrating.

Zach has also stayed busy giving back to the community, working on membership for his Contributors Breakfast Club and serving on the committee for the Wildboar race as well on the board for the Give Grace Foundation.

Zach and Sam took their families on a weeklong vacation together—a great chance to unplug and spend quality time outside the office.

We headed out for a team outing to an Iowa Cubs game, cheering on the team and enjoying some time together outside the office.

In early June, Tricia traveled to Chicago for Partner Summit—an opportunity to connect with advisors and team members from across the Carson Community and bring back new ideas and best practices for our clients.

Amy went to the Wrigley Rooftops. Sadly, the Cubs did not pull off a win, but the view and company made for a fun evening!

Amy shared that the second quarter kept her family just as busy, with baseball, more basketball, and preparations for a big move to Missouri. Before the move, the family made sure to soak up as much of Pella as they could—which of course meant plenty of trips to the bakery!

Team Update

As Amy and her family settle into their new home in Missouri, we want to make sure it’s clear: Amy remains very much part of the Carson Wealth team, continuing to work with us full-time and fully remote. We’re excited for this next chapter for her family and glad she’ll still be with us every step of the way.

What’s on the Horizon

Looking ahead, we have a few exciting things on the calendar—and a couple of friendly reminders.

If you’d like to schedule a round of golf with Sam or Zach, reach out to the office or schedule below.

Save the date: Sunday, October 18: Our annual Family Photo Day! Clients can sign up for a time slot to receive complimentary family photos, just in time for the holidays.

Save the date: Monday, November 30: Our Christmas party! This year’s celebration will be held at the Pella Opera House, and we can’t wait to celebrate the season with you.

Tax Planning Update

We’re continuing to refine our tax strategy process for clients. As a reminder, you should be receiving monthly reminders about your tax planning, and you’re always welcome to drop your returns off at our office—we’re happy to scan them in for you.

On April 1, Sam attended an event in Greenwich, Connecticut, to learn more about tax-reduction strategies for clients with large capital gains and high income, so that we can continue bringing these solutions back to our own clients.

Financial Planning Tip

Once a child turns 18, it’s important for parents to know that the law now views them as an adult—meaning parents no longer automatically have the legal authority to make decisions on their behalf. At the very least, we recommend young adults consider putting a financial power of attorney and a healthcare power of attorney in place. Having these documents ready can make a real difference in a moment when quick decisions matter most.
